Altered Book Workshop

Saturday, February 20th - 10am to 12noon

Facilitator: Janelle Covey

Experience a new form of self-expression which recycles old books into new personal and unique artwork. Fun for all ages- children and adults.

What do I need to bring to the workshop?

A hard cover book of any size which is no longer read but which is still well bound. The Library will have books for use on hand if you do not have one of your own.

Embellishments of all sorts - The Library will have some on hand and any one participating can bring what they want to use and share with others. You may wish to bring photos, cut outs from magazines, print outs from your computer, rubber stamps, paints, fabric scraps, wrapping paper, scrapbook supplies, stickers, feathers, beads, yarn, ribbon, glitter and any other whimsical thing you can find.

Imagination and a free spirit - There is not "right way" to alter a book, there is YOUR way to alter a book. You can choose one theme, have several or none at all. It can be for the public to see or it can be a special gift for a friend or your own personal journal. One important thing is to enjoy the journey of making an altered book. The process of creating, the playing with the various materials and of expressing your ideas is as important as the artwork you produce - and the book itself can be a treasure as well.
