Pre-School Story Time

Wednesdays at 10:30am (During the School Year)

Pleast note: There will be no Story Time on Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Our last Story Time for the current school year will be June 17, 2009.

Pre-schoolers and their caregivers are invited to join us for an interactive program of stories followed by a simple craft and a snack.

Be Creative At The Library - Summer Reading Program 2009

Wednesdays, July 8 thru August 5, 2009 10:00am to 11:00am

Pre-K thru 1st Grade Schedule of Events

All participants must be accompanied by an adult caregiver during the program.

Make Your Own Book Day! Story: TBD Guest: Hope Irvin Marston, author will read one of her books. Activity: Children will have the opportunity to tell their own story and make a small book to take home with them.

Walk-In Summer Reading Program and Activities Grades 2 thru 4

The reading portion of our summer program for grades 2 thru 4 is "Walk-In". Each Wednesday morning children are encouraged to come into the library and write a short review of a book they have chosen and read. We will ask for the title and author of the book and a brief explanation (a couple of sentences) of why they liked the book. As a reward for their review participants will receive a weekly prize. In addition to this each week children are invited to take part in the following events.

July 8, 2009 Make Some Noise!

Members of the JCC Band will be at the library to demonstrate their instruments and play some music. Activity: Students are encouraged to make their own instrument from recycled objects.

July 15, 2009 All About Art!

Andrew Minnery from the Clayton Handweaving Museum and Arts Center will be at the library to demonstrate how to work with clay. Activity: After the presentation the students will have the opportunity to work with clay and create their own project to take home.

July 22, 2009 Share A Story!

Share a story—come and listen to our guest, Inger Curth, tell stories from Sweden. We also encourage children to tell us about their favorite story and share it.

July 29, 2009 The Spoon Man

Guest: Spoon Man! Fun for all ages.

August 5,2009 Come and make your own book day!

Guest: Hope Irvin Marston author of My Little Book Collection. Hope will talk about what goes into making a book. Afterwards children will be given materials to make a book of their own to take home.
