June 1, 2020 Library Update - Return of Borrowed Items

The Board of Trustees and staff of the Dexter Free Library are committed to the health and safety of our patrons and community concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The library will remain closed to the public as we begin the reopening process.

Beginning today our outdoor book and media return is open. Library materials (both items you may have borrowed from the Dexter Free library and other member libraries) may now be returned via the outdoor return.  All returns must be made via the outdoor return.

***IMPORTANT***Returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours.  What does this mean? The library staff will remove items from the outdoor return and place them in a designated area in the library. We will mark the items with the current day's date and they will sit for 72 hours. At the end of 72 hours the items will be discharged from your library card.

For example, you place items in the return on Sunday. A staff member empties the return at 10am on Monday. On Thursday sometime after 10am the items you borrowed are discharged.

As always we appreciate your patience and understanding.

If you have any questions you may contact us via email at dexlib@ncls.org.  Email will be checked daily.Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience. Please recycle your used books.

This reminder comes as someone deposited a box of old encyclopedias on our steps recently.

The library is not accepting donations. We actually stopped accepting donations last year. We do not have space to sort and store donations, and we have no plans to host any used book sales.
